01 — The challenge

No unified view of application health across the business.

ANZ's IT estate had grown to a scale where understanding application health across the business was genuinely difficult. When something went wrong — a slowdown, a failure, a degraded service — finding the root cause required manual investigation across disconnected tools and teams.

The bank had no unified view of application performance, no consistent methodology for monitoring business services, and no operational intelligence capability that could surface issues before they became incidents. For a bank operating at ANZ's scale, that's an unacceptable risk.

Technology selection first. Rollout second.

Troy led the program from technology selection through full rollout — a $10M engagement covering the full lifecycle. The first phase was a rigorous evaluation of APM and operational intelligence platforms against ANZ's specific requirements — scale, security, integration with existing tooling, and total cost of ownership. Once selected, the standup phase established the platform, the team, the processes, and the monitoring frameworks. Rollout brought the capability to business services across the organisation.
